MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Monday, August 12, 2024) – Berkeley County’s Emergency Operations Center returned to normal operating conditions, OPCON level 3, at 8 p.m. this evening, Monday, August 12, 2024.

Berkeley County crews continue to assess damage from Debby. Crews will be out surveying damage and going door-to-door to gauge the extent of storm’s impact.

Residents and businesses that sustained storm-related damage are urged to report it online HERE or via the Citizen Call Line at 843-719-4800 and leave a detailed message. The Citizen Call Line is for non-emergency calls only, and callers will hear an automated response. For all emergency calls, please call 911.

Reporting storm damage will help Berkeley County staff gauge the extent of damage in the County and report the findings to state and federal officials. These reports will determine appropriate federal and state funding for damage caused by the storm.

The Alligator Road and Shulerville convenience center sites have reopened.

While Debby has left our area, hurricane season isn’t over yet. The season runs through November 30. Berkeley County recommends the public not discard of any sandbags that did not come into contact with floodwaters. Such sandbags can be reused if safely stored in a dry location. If you need to discard of any sandbags, please consider recycling them and disposing of them properly. To do so, spread the sand on your lawn or landscape beds and either recycle the bag or place it in the garbage.
