MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Friday, February 7, 2025) – Berkeley County has issued a 24-hour boil water advisory for residents in parts of Cane Bay due to a water main break that occurred in the area on Friday morning.

**All impacted individuals have been directly contacted through the Berkeley County Water and Sanitation customer notification system.**  Door hangers have also been placed on all impacted residences.

The water outage occurred after a contractor, while installing a gas line, struck a BCWS water main at the intersection of Highway 176 and Fair Winds Boulevard. BCWS worked quickly to correct the issue and restore water to the surrounding area around 11:30 a.m.

The County has issued a Boil Water Advisory as a precautionary measure and does not mean water is contaminated; it simply indicates a potential risk. Individuals in the impacted area are urged to vigorously boil their tap water for a full minute before consuming, drinking or cooking with it.

The advisory will be in effect for 24 hours while BCWS technicians test water samples. Once the water has been tested and deemed safe to drink, the notice will be lifted and impacted residents immediately notified.
