MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Saturday, January 31, 2026) –  As winter weather and frigid temperatures continue across our County and region Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday, County officials urge individuals to make safety a priority by staying off roadways and avoiding travel, if possible. Conditions are expected to worsen with accumulation along roadways and wind gusts up to 35 mph.

Crews with Berkeley County Roads and Bridges worked Saturday to pretreat roadways, key bridges, main corridors & emergency routes. Crews transitioned to salt application once precipitation started and plan to start plowing operations as needed. 

The County’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) transitioned to OPCON 2 at 10 a.m. on Saturday. OPCON 2 reflects a potential emergency or disaster occurring.

CLOSURES: Cypress Gardens will remain closed on Sunday, February 1.

BOND COURT: One session will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 1. Currently, court is scheduled to resume normal hours on Monday, February 2 at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
