MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Thursday, April 23, 2026) – Berkeley County is working to address local housing and community development needs and is seeking the public’s feedback on its 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan and Program Year (PY) 2026 Annual Action Plan for the use of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). The plans will be available for a 30-day public comment and review period from April 30 – May 30, 2026. They can be accessed at berkeleycountysc.gov or at the County’s Grants Administration office, located inside the Administration Building at 1003 Highway 52 in Moncks Corner. Written comments may be submitted to the County’s CDBG Grant Specialist Shonda Williams at vog.csytnuocyelekrebobfsctd@smailliw.adnohs or delivered to the Grants Administration office.

The 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan serves as a strategic plan to identify needs of the community related to providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities. The County’s PY 2026 Annual Action Plan outlines proposed projects and activities by the County’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs to address the identified priority needs and goals in the Consolidated Plan.

Since submitting the public notice, Berkeley County was awarded $1,269,095 in CDBG funding and $430,377.97 in HOME Program funding for PY26—which begins July 1, 2026, and ends June 30, 2027.

Berkeley County will host a public hearing on the draft plans on Tuesday, April 28 at 1 p.m. at the County Administration Building. The public is invited to attend the meeting to share comments and ask questions.
