ASHLEY POWELL

DEPUTY COUNTY SUPERVISOR

with the

COUNTY SUPERVISOR'S OFFICE

department

Powell has served as Deputy County Supervisor since March 2021. However, she began her career in public service in September 2014 as a Neighborhood Planner for Richland County Government. Powell eventually worked her way up to Interim Planning Director in 2018 and a year later made history when she was appointed as Assistant County Administrator; she was the first Black woman and youngest person ever to hold that leadership position.

In addition to public service, Powell is actively involved in serving her community. She’s a member of the Trident Health Board of Trustees; the Revenue, Finance and Economic Development Policy Steering Committee for the South Carolina Association of Counties; the Governance Committee for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Regional Housing Coalition; and Board Member for the South Carolina City and County Management Association and Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments.
