Biography

Eric Melendez is the county’s Safety Superintendent. He grew up in Southern California where he graduated high school and began working in the materials management field. Eric then joined the Southeast’s largest manufactured housing companies in North Carolina. In 2006, he moved to Beaufort County, South Carolina to join law enforcement.

In 2019, Eric joined the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and was soon promoted to Sergeant, where he became responsible for the training of all new detectives entering the Criminal Investigation Division. He then used his vast work experience to join the Safety & Risk Management Team for Berkeley County Government in 2023.
