THURMAN SIMMONS

STORMWATER PROGRAM MANAGER

with the

STORMWATER MANAGEMENT

department

Thurman Simmons is a life-long resident of Berkeley County, where his interest in natural resources & natural sciences were developed. The time spent under the tutelage of his father, an avid outdoorsman, and his burgeoning knowledge of the natural environment via Berkeley County’s great resources, provided him with his direction in life. He immediately began his career in natural resources with an internship at Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner, SC. This catapulted his academic and career pursuits that ultimately led him to Berkeley County. He obtained a Bachelor of Sciences in Biology with an environmental emphasis, from the Francis Marion University in 2006. Before joining Berkeley County in 2016, Mr. Simmons worked, in varying capacities, for South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) as an Environmental Health Manager and for an environmental consulting service firm as an Environmental Scientist. Mr. Simmons lives in Berkeley County where he enjoys sharing the same love, knowledge, and respect for the natural environment, bestowed to him by his father, with his wife and two children. Mr. Simmons is proud to call Berkeley County home and loves that his place to work is his daily opportunity to give back to the environment and community.
