Berkeley County’s “Celebrate Earth Day” event will be held at Cypress Gardens and features recycling games for children, giveaways and a number of engaging booths and displays, including a new (CNG) Natural Gas powered truck courtesy of Republic Services.  An antique tractor show, featuring genuine relics from the “good old days” – including a 35,000 lb. two-story high heavy oil engine – will also be on display. “Celebrate Earth Day” is being sponsored by Berkeley County in conjunction with Cypress Gardens, Berkeley County Water and Sanitation, Santee Cooper, Republic Services and Sonoco Recycling.

“This is the first event of its kind at Cypress Gardens,” explains Heather Graham, Cypress Gardens Manager. “We will be creating a fun and educational atmosphere to recognize and promote good stewardship of our earth’s natural resources.  The antique tractor show will add to the energy and excitement.  This is going to be a great day for children and adults of all ages to come and enjoy a beautiful day.”

 

Lunch will be available for purchase. All “Celebrate Earth Day” activities and the antique tractor show exhibits are free with regular paid admission to Cypress Gardens ($10.00 adult, $9.00 Senior, $5.00 child 6 to 12 years of age).  Berkeley County residents will be admitted free from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon with a photo ID. Call 843-553-0515 or visit www.cypressgardens.info for more information on this and other upcoming events.
