
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (Friday, May 2, 2025) – Berkeley County celebrated a special Grand Opening ceremony on Friday, May 2, 2025, for its new Goose Creek Magistrate & Public Safety Substation, a 12,102-square foot facility located at 653 Red Bank Road in Goose Creek. This state-of-the-art building will house County Magistrate services as well as substations for Berkeley County Emergency Medical Services and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
MAGISTRATE’S OFFICE: This new facility includes three courtrooms, each complete with jury boxes and judge benches. Employees staffed here will include three judges, six clerks, three constables, two bailiffs and a security officer. The former location for the Berkeley County Magistrate’s Office at 303-B N. Goose Creek Boulevard is now closed. The new Magistrate’s Office at 653 Red Bank Road will open for normal business hours on Monday, May 5, 2025.
EMS SUBSTATION: This substation will house one ambulance staffed by two EMS employees at all times, across the agency’s four shifts, providing 24/7 emergency medical services to the community.
SHERIFF’S SUBSTATION: This substation will house one full-time employee during normal business hours. Deputies will also stop by throughout the day to conduct paperwork and lodge evidence. There are also opportunities for volunteers to work here based on availability.
The facility was designed by Herrington, LLC and built by Design Build Construction. Crews with County Roads & Bridges and Information Technology also completed a large portion of the project. Total cost of the project is approximately $4,318,144.
