MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Monday, July 6, 2026) – Berkeley County has installed pet microchip scanning stations around the county to identify lost pets and help reunite them with their owners. The self-service station has a universal scanner to allow anyone to quickly scan a found pet for a microchip.
Each station has easy-to-follow instructions and are available 24/7 at the following locations:
- Cane Bay Library – 1655 Cane Bay Boulevard, Ste. A, Summerville
- Hanahan Library – 1216 Old Murray Court, Hanahan
- Moncks Corner Library – 1003 Highway 52, Moncks Corner
- Sangaree Library – 595 Sangaree Parkway, Summerville
- St. Stephen Fire Department – 124 Hood Street, St. Stephen
Additional stations will be installed in the coming weeks.
Berkeley County encourages anyone who finds a lost animal to take it to the nearest pet microchip station. Immediately upon scanning, please contact Charleston Animal Society Berkeley Campus at 843-719-5050.
Total cost of the initiative is approximately $15,000. Funding stems from County Councilwoman Amy Stern’s allotted Accommodations Fee discretionary funds for District 5.
