Berkeley County is scheduled to hold two public hearings regarding redistricting and reapportioning County Council districts. The first public hearing will take place during the Council Committee meetings starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022 in the Assembly Room of the County Administration Building, located at 1003 Highway 52 in Moncks Corner.

Redistricting takes place every 10 years following the release of new data from the U.S. Census. District boundaries for federal, state and local elected offices are redrawn to reflect shifting populations and other updated data from the Census.

During the public hearing, members of the public are invited to comment on the updated maps, still in the preliminary stage.

A second public hearing took place on January 24. Third and final reading of the ordinance is scheduled to take place at the County Council meeting on Monday, February 14.
