BCWS Central Berkeley 2nd Effluent Force Main

Construction of upgrades and improvements to the Central Berkeley Wastewater Treatment Plant and effluent discharge route at 158 Central Berkeley Drive, Moncks Corner, South Carolina, is being financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The CW SRF program is administered by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and the SC Rural Infrastructure Authority, with joint funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State of South Carolina. This project, referred to as the BCWS Central Berkeley 2nd Effluent Force Main, includes upgrades to the existing Central Berkeley WWTP Effluent Pump Station with four (4) new 125 – hp vertical turbine pumps, VFDs, piping, etc., and 17,500 LF of parallel effluent force main that discharges to the Cooper River outfall. The project will provide new pumps and a parallel 30” force main that will be critical for the upgrade necessary for the Berkeley County WWTP to continue serving its community, residents, and businesses located in Berkeley County Water & Sanitation’s distribution system. CW SRF programs operate around the country to provide states and communities with the resources necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources.
