Berkeley County Emergency Operations Transitions to OPCON 2
Public Encouraged to Report Storm Damage
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Saturday, August 10, 2024) – Berkeley County Emergency Operations transitioned to OPCON 2 at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 10. The Emergency Operations Center continues to remain activated and partially staffed as local, state, and federal officials shift to recovery operations from Debby.
Berkeley County continues to assess flood damage from the storm. Over the next few days, crews will be out in the county, surveying the extent of damage and going door-to-door for this initiative.
Residents and businesses that sustained storm-related structural damage are encouraged to report it HERE or via the Citizen Call Line at 843-719-4800 and leave a detailed message. The Citizen Call Line is for non-emergency calls only, and callers will hear an automated response. For all emergencies, please call 911. These reports will determine appropriate federal and state funding for damage caused by the storm.
Many areas around the county remain flooded and several roadways still closed. Please do not drive around or move barricades. Find an updated list of road closures in the county HERE.
Berkeley County Water and Sanitation crews have repaired the water line in the Briddleford Ridge neighborhood in Ladson, between Stroberfield Branch and Limehouse Branch, and water has been restored; however, a boil water advisory is in effect until further notice. Tap water should be boiled vigorously for at least one full minute prior to using it for drinking or cooking. Residents will be notified once the advisory is lifted. There are currently no other boil water advisories in the county.
The Landfill is open extended hours today, Saturday, August 10 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Convenience Centers are open and operating by normal hours today. See full list of sites HERE. The Alligator Road and Shulerville Convenience Centers remain CLOSED due to road conditions.
