MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Monday, March 25, 2019) Keep Berkeley Beautiful (KBB), an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is maintaining its mission of the reduction and prevention of litter in Berkeley County.  Berkeley County is encouraging citizens to participate in the Great American Cleanup that will take place at the Hatchery Boat Ramp on Saturday, March 30, 2019.

In order to make this event a huge success, Keep Berkeley Beautiful is looking for volunteers to help with the cleanup.

There are two ways volunteers can help:

  1. Waterway Cleanup – Kayakers will paddle to first Island after leaving land to clean up the designated camping and surrounding area on the island. To volunteer for the water cleanup and/or reserve a kayak, call Deb at (843) 697-2812 or email . You’re always welcome to bring your own kayak.
  2. Roadway Cleanup – Volunteers will clean the land area at the Hatchery Boat Landing and Highway 6 road side. To volunteer for the landing and roadway cleanup, call Sarah Smith at (843) 719-2383 or email BEFORE Wednesday, March 27, 2019.

Volunteers are asked to meet at 8 a.m. at The Hatchery Boat Ramp. Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, long-sleeve shirts and sturdy shoes. If you have a long-handled trash grabber, you are asked to bring it along.

Kayaks will be provided for the event. Participants will receive T-shirts and lunch from Keep Berkeley Beautiful in partnership with PalmettoPride.
