MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Friday, September 27, 2024) – Berkeley County’s Emergency Operations Center is expected to return to normal operating conditions, OPCON level 3, at 8 p.m. this evening, Friday, September 27, 2024.
Over the next few days, Berkeley County crews will be out assessing damage from Helene. Residents and businesses that sustained storm-related damage specific to buildings, not fences or vehicles, are urged to report it online HERE or via the Citizen Call Line at 843-719-4800 and leave a detailed message. The Citizen Call Line is for non-emergency calls only, and callers will hear an automated response. For all emergency calls, please call 911.
Reporting storm damage will help Berkeley County staff gauge the extent of damage in the County and report the findings to state and federal officials. These reports will determine if assistance will be available for damage caused by the storm. On Wednesday, SC Governor Henry McMaster declared a State of Emergency ahead of the storm.
All Berkeley County facilities, including the Landfill and Convenience Centers, are OPEN and operating by normal schedules.
The Citizen Call Line (843-719-4800) remains operational 24/7 for non-emergency calls ONLY. Callers will hear an automated response with Berkeley County storm prep information. **For all emergency calls, please call 911.**
