Biography

Craig Nessel has been serving as the GIS Director for Berkeley County since June 2023. Prior to his current role, he was a GIS analyst within the department. He began his local government career as a zoning inspector with Mecklenburg County in North Carolina.
He holds both a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Geography from Marshall University. Craig thrives on leveraging his deep-rooted passion for mapping and technology to enhance geospatial services and help Berkeley County Government make informed, data-driven decisions that benefit the public.
In his spare time, Craig enjoys reading, running, and tinkering with amateur radio.
