GREG RINES

GIS DIRECTOR

with the

GIS/CONSORTIUM

department

Greg Rines relocated to Berkeley County in October 1993 when selected as the County’s first Geographic Information System (GIS) Director where he designed and implemented the County’s GIS. He continues to administer the GIS while providing guidance and support for the Berkeley County GIS Consortium. Since that time, the GIS Department has grown into a successful and robust department providing state-of-the-art mapping and data services to local government, businesses, and citizens. Over the years GIS has generated tens of thousands of maps and compiled more than 500 digital GIS data layers. The department also publishes a popular annual street atlas, maintains the Real Property Department parcel digital GIS layer, provides assistance during times of crisis to Emergency Management, and offers data available through the development of several custom mapping websites. Berkeley County has a reputation for excellence in the regional GIS community.
