Biography

Russ Cornette joined the Berkeley County Engineering Department on November 13, 2023 as the County Engineer. He previously worked for the Town of Summerville as the Town Engineer and Public Works Director since 2005. At the Town of Summerville, Russ oversaw the Engineering, Stormwater, Street, Fleet Services and Facilities Departments. Russ also managed the Town’s Solid Waste program, Road resurfacing program, transportation improvement capital projects as well as stormwater capital projects. Prior to working for the Town of Summerville, Russ worked for the South Carolina Department of Transportation for four years and served as the Resident Maintenance Engineer in Charleston County. Russ graduated from The Citadel in 2000 with a degree in Civil Engineering and is a licensed engineer in South Carolina. Russ has two adult sons and resides with his wife, Tiffany, in Ridgeville. He enjoys the outdoors and traveling.
