Hundreds across the Lowcountry pull out their safari hats every year and visit Cypress Gardens for their annual “Swamp Safari”. The event has become quite popular with locals and will feature a full schedule of exciting swamp adventures.

Cypress Gardens Swamp Safari
Saturday, August 16th
10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Enjoy entertainment, displays and presentations including:

  • Live music by the Charleston Hot Shots
  • The Turtle and Tortoise Society of Charleston
  • Tony Mills, Herpetologist (reptile and amphibian expert) from the Lowcountry Institute and star of Coastal Kingdom TV show
  • Ken Alfieri, Herpetologist and former director of Cypress Gardens
  • Chris Smith of Magnolia Gardens Nature Center
  • Sonny Gunn, Fossil Hunter
  • Charleston Fancy Rabbit Breeders
  • Shop for bird houses from Snavely’s Bird Houses
  • And Cypress Gardens’ education staff

Food will be available for purchase from the Friends of Cypress Gardens.

“This year features exciting presentations and exhibits highlighting Lowcountry swamp life,” explains Heather Graham, Manager of Cypress Gardens. “From reptiles and rabbits to butterflies and birds, there is a little something for everyone.”

All Swamp Safari activities are free with regular paid admission to Cypress Gardens ($10.00 adult, $9.00 Senior, $5.00 child 6 to 12 years of age).
