In a continuing effort to offer unique and exciting educational experiences for children and adults of all ages, Cypress Gardens will be offering Garden Ornament Workshops on Saturday and Sunday July 26th and 27th. Participants will learn how to hand craft beautiful garden ornaments with Portland cement. The schedule is as follows:
Saturday, July 26th
9 AM – 11 AM (Hypertufa Workshop Part 1)
Learn how to make molds and mix tufa cement. Students will craft a stepping stone and a flower pot that will dry to resemble old tufa stoneware.
1PM – 3PM (Sand Cast Leaf Workshop Part 1)
Learn to craft decorative garden ornaments using real leaves collected from Cypress Gardens as molds. Mix a special Portland cement formula and cast 3-4 leaves. Large leaves make great bird baths and small leaves make good soap dishes or wall art
Sunday, July 27th
1:00 PM (Hypertufa Workshop Part 2)
Students will unmold their projects and learn concrete carving and finishing techniques.
1:00 PM (Sand Cast Leaf Workshop Part 2)
Unmold the leaves and learn to trim and paint them.
