MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Friday, June 20, 2025) – Berkeley County residents with Carolina Waste trash service can expect to see a rate change on their latest quarterly bill, which is being issued this week.
The rate change officially goes into effect August 1, 2025. County Council approved the change by approving a new residential trash service contract with Carolina Waste on September 9, 2024. The contract first went out for competitive bid on June 4, 2024. During the process, the County received three bids and reviewed each bid based on different scoring criteria, including pricing. By a vote of Council, Carolina Waste was selected and awarded the contract.
The rate is changing from $34.06 per quarter to $45 per quarter. However, this change will only affect customers in the specified franchise area in Berkeley County.
Impacted customers were first notified of the change on their April quarterly bills, which stated that future invoices may reflect a slight increase.
